The European Union might “act quickly and firmly” in response to what it deems “unwarranted” travel bans imposed by the US on five European individuals involved in fighting online hate and disinformation, a European Commission spokesperson stated.

EU Officials Decry US Action as ‘Intimidation’

Officials from Europe such as the French president accused Washington of “bullying and threats”, following the visa restrictions were placed on figures who have been central to campaigns to enact laws regulating US-based technology firms.

“For far too long, European activists have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated a senior US official online. “This government will not stand for such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
